“Stockwell, did you hear the report out of Vancouver?”
“Not sure, which one would that be?”
“Some postal workers refused to deliver anti-gay literature from a church group out of Ontario.”
“You don’t say. What was their reasoning?”
“They classified it as hate literature.”
“Ooh my, this is distressing to hear. Will the guilty parties be punished?”
“I’m not sure. I haven’t seen the brochure yet but from what I am told it is a simple case of hatred.”
“Well, these people are under the employment of the Federal Government. It is their job to deliver the mail.”
“You mean you want the Postal Union Employees punished?”
“Of course! You didn’t think we’d go after a church on this did you?”
“I didn’t think the government would go after anyone on this.”
“Did they have a contract to deliver this material?”
“The Post Office did but the employees refused to, even under the threat of suspension. They walked off the job over it.”
“Well we can’t have folks not doing their jobs can we? Since when can they pick and choose what they are going to deliver?”
“Well, there’s no firm policy on this but my feeling is that we should get Larry working on this right away.”
“I would hope so.”
“I hope we minimise the damage.”
“Me too. If the Postal Workers Union refuse to deliver this, just think of how they will react when they are asked to deliver our campaign brochures next year.”
