SEPTEMBER 6, 2006
Word Count:247

“Hello Stephen. It’s your mother.”

“Oh hi mom!”

“How was your summer?”

“It was great! Busy but great.”

“Too busy to call your own mother?”

“Aw mom.”

“It’s a crying shame that the only way I can find out what my son is up to is by checking his website!”

“Did you hear I’m going to I’m going to be on Corner Gas?”

“Yes son. I heard. We’re all very proud. So how was Saskatchewan? Did you make any new friends while you were there?”

“No. Didn’t have time. Besides there’s not many people there anyway but I did give the RCMP some money.”

“That’s nice but you should really try to meet more people. You shouldn’t keep isolating yourself.”

“I’ve got lots of friends mother. Speaking of ice, I spent a few days in the arctic. That was neat.”

“The arctic? When was that?”

“During that AIDS confer… er, near the middle of August.”

“That’s just what I’m talking about. Here you had a chance to be seen with a lot of famous people in Toronto and where were you? The arctic. Did you make any friends there? Let me guess. No.”

“Well…er…”

“And just where were you all of July? It’s like you disappeared. You haven’t been hanging around with that Bush boy have you?”

“What’s wrong with George? He’s a great guy.”

“I don’t like the way he keeps calling you Stevie. Your name is Stephen. I tell you he’s trouble. ”

“Aw mom…”
